The alliance also has a role to play in ensuring confidence building in the agricultural carbon market, notably by developing a tool to avoid double counting of farmers emissions reductions and carbon capture from farmers participating in participating in several carbon payment schemes.
The founding members of the association are the 8 young companies Farmleap, Gaïago, Terraterre, Soil Capital, Carbon farmers, Rize ag, MyEasyFarm and Genesis.
"We collectively hold strong convictions about agroecology and believe that carbon finance mechanisms will play a major role in its adoption. We have therefore decided to come together to rapidly propose solutions to emerging issues in the industry, such as the multiplication of programmes available to farmers, and to strengthen confidence in our industry," explains Anaël Bibard, the association's first president .
The main tasks of the alliance can be summarised as follows
● Federate and represent its members participating in agriculturalcarbon markets
● Influencing and contributing to the healthy development of agricultural carbon finance , by proposing solutions on issues of common interest, such as the framing of relationships between actors to avoid double counting of emission reductions
● Promote and create educational materials related to agriculturalcarbon finance or agroecology
The association is open to all stakeholders who wish to participate and has to be neutral between the carbon programmes. In this respect Sysfarm was the first player to join the association. Several other Several other players have been asked to participate in the approach.
