What isprecision farming ?
Efficient agriculture to optimize yields and profitability, while preserving the environment.
precision farming, which came into being around 10 years ago, has made its way into farmers' daily lives in stages.
GPS
It all started with the arrival of GPS systems surrounded by their sensors. This tool makes it possible to guide the tractor and know its position in real time in a field. GPS can be adapted to various agricultural machines such as tractors, harvesters, flax harvesters, among others. In particular, it offers a gain in precision and time, optimizes the use of equipment and improves comfort in terms of daily activity.
Section cutting
In a second stage came the cutting of sections. That is to say the optimization of the distribution of inputs in the field areas. Its objective is to improve the quality of spraying and limit overlapping. The section cut managed by GPS allows to avoid shortages and/or overdoses.
Modulation
Then the modulation appeared. It is simply defined by the application of the right amount of input at the right place at the right time in the field. It depends on the intra-plot heterogeneity, i.e. on the state of the plant but also on the soil typology. By avoiding a uniform application of inputs on the plot, it greatly reduces the risks of overdosing in some places and underdosing in others. Modulation thus leads to a reduction in waste and yield losses.
Telemetry
Afterwards, it was possible to determine the real time position of the tractors on the farm as well as the data on a computer. This technology is called telemetry. It sends data such as the volume of fuel consumed, distance travelled, working time, speed etc. to the computer. Thus the advantages of telemetry are numerous: technical assistance, optimisation of machine performance, improved monitoring by anticipating maintenance steps, remote parameterisation, etc.
Documentation
Finally, we find the documentation. It is the fact of aggregating the data of the sensors present on the machine and on the tool to bring them all together on a single platform, such as MyEasyFarm. Then you can know all the data relating to the interventions carried out.
In conclusion, precision farming is a set of techniques and practices optimizing the use of inputs in agricultural plots.[/vc_column_text][vc_video link="https://youtu.be/-PQ4JVb3PAk " align="center"][/vc_column][/vc_row]
