Financing the commercial development of MyEasyCarbon
The AgTech startup MyEasyFarm its first round of funding, raising €1 million to finance the commercial development of MyEasyCarbon, its carbon footprint assessment solution for farms, aimed at promoting sustainable, low-carbon agriculture.
The round of financing associates the Business Angels of the WeLike, INSEAD, JOJ CAPITAL, NETANGELS, ALTENS INNOVATION, INDIA LIMA, and RANDALLI networks, with the support of BPI and the Grand Est region and the support of EY VENTURI, Scal'Enov, HECTAR, La Ferme Digitale and Angelsquare.
The funds raised will be used to develop the first low-carbon projects in France and Western Europe.
Founded in 2017 and specializing in precision agriculture, MyEasyFarm originally MyEasyFarm a platform that centralizes all the information and data farmers need to manage their inputs in a way that closely matches crop requirements. MyEasyFarm already MyEasyFarm more than 1,000 users in Western Europe. The startup expanded its offering last summer with its latest innovation: MyEasyCarbon, a digital platform that enables the generation of carbon credits on arable farms.
MyEasyFarm goal MyEasyFarm to prevent 1 million tons of CO2 emissions by 2025, while compensating farmers for shifting their practices toward more sustainable agriculture.
The Carbon Challenge in the Agricultural Sector
As the second-largest emitter of greenhouse gases (GHGs), agriculture accounts for approximately 20% of CO2 emissions but also serves as a powerful “natural carbon sink” capable of storing carbon in the soil. The set of measures proposed to reduce CO2 emissions or increase carbon storage in the soil is called “Carbon Farming,” made possible by changes in farmers’ cultivation practices that are more environmentally friendly.
In this context, MyEasyFarm designed the MyEasyCarbon app, entirely dedicated to managing CO2 emissions from field crop farms. The app enables the calculation of GHG emissions and carbon sequestration in the soil, the simulation of potential carbon credit gains, and monitoring of the Low-Carbon project for a minimum of five years. The innovation of MyEasyCarbon
lies notably in the use of satellite data and data from agricultural equipment to generate reliable and verifiable carbon credits.
MyEasyFarm part of the first cohort of HECTAR, the largest AgTech and FoodTech innovation accelerator founded by Xavier Niel, the startup association La Ferme Digitale, the B4C and Agri Sud-Ouest Innovation competitiveness clusters, and numerous agricultural innovation networks.
In March 2022, MyEasyCarbon became the first application certified by Bureau Veritas as compliant with the Low-Carbon Field Crops Label established by the Ministry of Ecological Transition in July 2021. The digital platform was also highlighted during COP26 in Glasgow by the World Economic Forum as one of the 10 apps in the Carbon Challenge. MyEasyCarbon has also been certified by the Solar Impulse Foundation as a solution that is both cost-effective and environmentally conscious and was recently recognized during the EDP PULSE challenge.
Support the agro-ecological transition of the entire agri-food chain
With MyEasyCarbon, MyEasyFarm takes its support for the agroecological transition a step further by offering a comprehensive solution that addresses CO2 emissions challenges: from farmers to agri-food company to meet Scope 3 requirements, including low-carbon initiatives such as cooperatives. Thanks to its accurate and reliable carbon emissions analysis, MyEasyCarbon has become a go-to tool for the entire agri-food value chain:
It supports farmers in their agroecological transition by providing them with additional income through the sale of carbon credits;
It supports cooperatives in rolling out their decarbonization projects: from raising awareness among farmers to monitoring and completing projects by generating reliable carbon credits;
MyEasyCarbon supports manufacturers subject to Scope 3 requirements in order to improve their carbon footprint. Mandatory for companies with more than 500 employees, scope 3 one of the three levels of greenhouse gas emissions established in the GHG Protocol to indirect emissions linked in particular to raw materials (agriculture for agri-food companies). It represents the largest share of emissions within a company.
The simplified version of MyEasyCarbon has already won over 1,500 farmers by offering online carbon footprint assessments in just 20 minutes.
In France, the market represents 100,000 potential farms and all players in the agri-food sector.
